One of the best ways to find short or long term housing in Italy is to ask around. One couple in Umbria mentioned to my wife and I that they have stopped at bars and asked the people present if they know of any houses for sale or any accommodations for rent. Another source for temporary housing or to buy a house in larger urban areas are small (in size) pamphlets that contain listing of apartments, condos and houses for sale or rent. I have provided above under "REAL ESTATE LINKS", a sampling of real estate companies (immobili/agenie immobiliari) and agents. Some specialize in catering to foreigners and others may be local to a specific region(s) or nation-wide. There are hundreds of real estate companies and thousands of real estate agents whom are more than willing to take your money for finding your dream housing in Italy.

My wife and I are looking for a short term, off-season rental starting in late September/early October, 2007 in southern Italy (Meta, Sorrento). Believe it or not, we have a lead from someone where my wife has her hair done who has a sister still in Italy and who may have what we are looking (2 bedrooms) for about 6 - 7 months. We shall see what turns up....

That's it for Tuesday, 3 April 2007: martedì, 3 aprile 2007.

Ciao, Ben

I suggest a really good agriturismo in umbria: cheap, quiet and quite near to the marvellous Castiglion del lago!
